Issues Related to Scope of Practice and Privileging of Podiatrists

Objective: 

Course description -This one hour course will review recent legal developments related to the scope of practice of podiatrists in Texas. It will also address issues related to defining the scope of privileges for podiatrists. At the completion of this course, attendees will:

Be familiar with recent legal developments related to scope of podiatric practice in Texas

Understand the current scope of licensure for podiatrists in Texas

Understand how to conduct a review of podiatry privileges currently offered at their facilities to determine whether the privileges are within the scope of podiatry practice in Texas

Understand appropriate methods to rescind privileges that exceed scope of practice

Formulate a process for evaluating requests for new or additional privileges from podiatrists already privileged at their facilities.
